Since 1980, Faywest Dental Center has been a trusted name in compassionate, high-quality dentistry. Founded by Dr. James E. Nicolette, our practice has grown into a close-knit team with more than 200 years of combined experience, most of which was gained right here in our office.
A Legacy of Excellence, A Future of Innovation
Today, that legacy continues under the leadership of Dr. Randall Palmiscno, who has been serving our community for over 20 years, along with Dr. Daniel Whirlow and Dr. Pete Eddy, specialists in periodontics and endodontics. Together, they bring expertise, skill, and a commitment to making every visit a positive experience.

Meet the Owners
Faywest isn't just a dental practice, it's a family tradition. Dr. Nicolette's son Brett took ownership years ago, ensuring the practice stayed true to its roots. While Brett is a pilot for a private jet company and isn't always in the office, his wife, Cassandra, manages the day-to-day operations as our office manager.

Dr. Peter S. Eddy, DDS
Dr. Peter S. Eddy joined the dental profession in 1986, bringing his skills to the current practice in 2008. A West Virginia University School of Dentistry graduate, Dr. Eddy comes from a family with a rich healthcare tradition—his uncle and brother are pharmacists, his grandfather was a physician, and his great-grandfather was a dentist.
This substantial family connection to healthcare influenced Dr. Eddy's career path. He has always aspired to work in the health field. At the practice, he focuses on improving patients' dental conditions while maintaining a pleasant environment for patients and team members.
When not caring for patients' smiles, Dr. Eddy enjoys an active lifestyle, including kayaking, fishing, and exploring trails by foot and bicycle. He also dedicates time to maintaining his home, lawn, and trees. Every Saturday, you'll find him at Bingo, a weekly tradition he enjoys. As an avid traveler, Dr. Eddy has visited Alaska and Hawaii, experiencing the diverse landscapes of America's most distant states.
Dr. Randall L. Palmiscno, DMD
Dr. Randall L. Palmiscno has been practicing dentistry since 1995 and has been a valued member of Faywest Dental for 27 years, joining the practice in October 1997. He completed both his undergraduate studies and dental education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Palmiscno makes dental care more accessible by translating complex dental information into everyday language that patients can easily understand. This communication approach helps demystify dental procedures and creates a more comfortable experience for those in his care.
His path to dentistry began during his undergraduate years when he attended a Dental Science Club meeting. The combination of lectures and hands-on lab activities working with teeth mounted in stone sparked his interest. It ultimately led him to dental school, fulfilling his desire to help people through healthcare.
What Dr. Palmiscno enjoys most about his work is the daily interaction with the practice's team, whom he describes as "good people." He also values listening to and sharing stories with patients and appreciates the interesting conversations these exchanges bring.
Outside the office, Dr. Palmiscno devotes time to activities with his children, teaching them "old-school" pursuits like 8-ball pool, pinball, bowling, and golf at the driving range. He also introduces them to cultural experiences through museum visits. Perhaps most surprising, he's a dedicated cat enthusiast, sharing his home with nine feline companions.
Dr. Whirlow , DMD
Dr. Daniel Whirlow began his career in dentistry upon graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1985. This path was strongly influenced by many members of his immediate and extended family being involved in healthcare; two orthopedic surgeons, nurses, a physical therapist; and most importantly his mentor, Dr. James Nicolette.
Following dental school, Dr. Whirlow gained a Florida dental license and spent two years there involved with implant dentistry and prosthodontics before bringing these skills home to Pennsylvania. Following many years of maintaining a private practice, Dr. Whirlow joined the group at Faywest Dental in 2017.
When not at Faywest Dental providing patient care, Dr. Whirlow devotes time to close family and friends; and like Dr. Palmiscno, cares for his many cat friends...making sure the ones not under his care find a good home.
Dr. Whirlow is also an avid photographer and collector of vintage cameras. Also, being an auto enthusiast, he loves a good car show.
Brett
Practice Owner
Brett Nicolette brings a unique blend of business acumen to his role as practice owner. After joining his father's dental practice in 1984, Brett has cultivated an environment where exceptional patient care and team wellness are top priorities.
A University of Pittsburgh graduate with a degree in business management/accounting, Brett discovered that traditional office work wasn't his calling. He reinvented himself as a corporate pilot, embracing his love for the open skies while continuing to support the family dental practice his father established in 1980.
Brett takes pride in the outstanding team he's assembled, valuing the time he spends with his hardworking staff who manage to have fun while delivering excellent care. His early exposure to dentistry came through summer breaks working in the dental lab during high school.
When not overseeing the practice or flying planes, Brett embraces outdoor adventures—particularly off-road motorsports, fishing, golfing, and skiing. You might also find him in his garage "wrenching" on various projects, indulging his passion for hands-on mechanical work.
Brett's diverse background and commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture continue to drive the practice's success in Scottdale, Pennsylvania.

However, her motivation has evolved over her years of practice into "an intense desire to give someone their smile back" and witness "their eyes light up when they see a beautiful smile again."
Melinda especially values connecting with the practice's older patients and appreciating the wealth of life experience they bring to conversations. She also takes pride in being part of a friendly, effective team of coworkers who collaborate well together.

The Legacy of Dr. James E. Nicolette
Originally founded by Dr. James E. Nicolette, our practice has been a trusted name in dental excellence for over 40 years. Today, that same dedication continues through Dr. Randall Palmiscno, Dr. Daniel Whirlow, and Dr. Pete Eddy, who are committed to compassionate, high-quality dentistry.
Dr. Randy and the staff are awesome. They were so patient with me and my insurance hiccups (which got resolved thankfully). I learned SO much about my teeth. I first started going about 2 months before 1st covid shut downs. After about 2 years I finally was about to get my dental issues all in order. I truly can't say enough how appreciative I am for the doctor and staff. They're also very understanding of those with extreme anxiety and help you have a comfortable experience. I've recommended Fay West to several friends who all went and also had a very pleasant experience.
